Conference Keynote Speaker -- Gary Paul Nabhan
Gary Nabhan, the author of numerous books on biology, native cultures, travel, and agricultureÐwill keynote the conference by discussing the importance of eating locally grown and produced foods.
Nabhan's popular book, Coming Home to Eat: The Pleasures and Politics of Local Foods, was recently released in paperback. The book tells of the author's yearlong journey to eat foods raised, gathered or hunted within a 250-mile radius of his home in Arizona.
Nabhan is currently the director of the Center for Sustainable Environments at Northern Arizona University. A prolific writer, Nabhan is the author of such books as Cultures of Habitat, a collection of essays on native cultures, conservation and other topics; Songbirds, Truffles and Wolves, about his journey in the path of Saint Francis in Italy; The Desert Smells Like Rain, a natural history of arid landscapes; and numerous others.
