Dear Valued NCAP Supporter,

Together, we have come a long way in our efforts to reduce pesticide use, to protect our health, our communities and the health of our environment. Thank you!

While these are hard times, I’d like to tell you about our efforts to plan for the future.

The opportunities to effect change do not slow down – even in a recession. And we are not missing a beat to focus our efforts on where we can effectively continue to make the most impact.

We will be focusing on the following priority programs now and going into 2010. Our core programs and efforts are:

• Growing our Sustainable and Organic Agriculture Program and further expanding healthy farming practices in the Northwest.

• Expanding the number of Pesticide-Free Parks in our five-state region and establishing a peer network for city parks managers to learn and share about pesticide-free maintenance practices.

• Developing strong Integrated Pest Management (IPM) policies in schools. NCAP is working directly with Oregon State University Extension and several school districts to help develop IPM policies.

• Protecting salmon and water through our Clean Water for Salmon Program, which addresses at the federal and region-wide level how pesticide use is seriously degrading waterways and threatening water quality.

• Educating and alerting you about how you can take action to reduce pesticide use and help find alternatives.

We have made changes to reflect the new economic picture. Like many non-profits, we’ve had to make some tough choices. In October, our board approved a budget that included reductions in staffing, benefits and program expenses. We have streamlined our services for our members and taken cost-saving measures to use our dollars as efficiently as possible.

Thank you so much for your interest and support for our work. We need your support now more than ever.

Please renew your membership today if you have lapsed. Or, consider making a special donation above your membership – you can mail us a check to: NCAP, PO Box 1393, Eugene, Oregon, 97440 or click on the “Donate Now” button right here on our website.

We look forward to your continued support and commitment to our work. We ask that you give what you can so our efforts can be strengthened and our staff bolstered in our sincere efforts to find healthier ways to control pests.

To making change happen,

Kim Leval
Executive Director
