A free dinner and workshop on sowing seeds with congress and harvesting farm bill conservation dollars.

If you're curious about farm bill conservation programs and other funding opportunities, or worried that your program will disappear, or if you're interested in talking to your congressperson about it but aren’t sure how, then you should join us for Food and Fun in the Field.

This is a special dinner and discussion with District Conservationist Tom Burnham of Oregon Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Karl Morgenstern of Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB), Keli Kuykendall of Cascade Pacific Resource Conservation and Development District (CPRCD), organic farmer Jim Bronec of Praying Mantis Farm in Canby, and staff from the Oregon congressional offices.

We’ll cover the resources available to farmers through farm bill programs such as the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP), the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), as well as energy efficiency and cost share programs from EWEB and CPRCD. In addition, we'll offer training on how to speak with your elected officials about preserving important conservation programs like these in a time of severe budget cutbacks.

As an added highlight, you'll also get a look at the Berggren Demonstration farm, a new project along the McKenzie River that's managed by McKenzie River Trust, Eugene Water & Electric Board, and Cascade Pacific Resource Conservation and Development.

This event is absolutely free! So please come for good food and a chance to learn about how to utilize and protect the programs that protect our farms!
