Mes de la Herencia Hispana: Adaptándonos a las Necesidades de la Comunidad Latina

Celebramos el Mes de la Herencia Hispana reconociendo a esta cultura y sus enormes contribuciones a nuestra historia y forma de vida. Las personas hispanas han hecho de estas tierras su hogar por siglos y son parte vital del constante intercambio cultural que ha formado a esta nación. En NCAP hemos hecho avances en diversificar nuestras filas y las comunidades que servimos, a pesar de haber sido una organización que históricamente ha sido manejada por y ha servido a la gente blanca.

Nuestros programas en Español siguen ganando terreno y la atención de más comunidades hispanas. Mientras seguimos trabajando en el Centro y Este de Oregón, también esperamos expandir nuestro servicio hacia condados de Washington y Idaho. Recientemente hemos continuado diversificando nuestro personal, sumando hispanoparlantes a nuestras filas para mejorar nuestro servicios con la comunidad latina. Ana Elisa Wilson, nuestra Especialista de Equidad, Comunidades y Medio ambiente Saludables, ha trabajado incansablemente por su gente, adaptando nuestros programas para sus necesidades.

Celebramos y reconocemos a todas las gentes de color, especialmente a la comunidad hispana durante este mes que trae consigo el cambio de temporadas. Esperamos seguir reuniéndonos, charlando y construyendo comunidad a través de nuestros programas en español. ¡Feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana!

Hispanic Heritage Month: Adapting to the Latinx Community’s Needs

We're celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by acknowledging this culture and its enormous contributions to our history and way of life. Hispanic people have been making this land their home for centuries and are a vital part of the ever diversifying intercultural exchange that is this nation.

Here at NCAP we have been making strides toward diversifying our staff and the communities we serve, despite ours being a historically white-run and white-serving organization.

Our Spanish language programs continue to gain momentum and attention of more Hispanic communities. As we continue to do work in Central and Eastern Oregon, we’re also hoping to expand our work to counties in Washington and Idaho.

In recent times we have diversified our staff, adding native Spanish speakers to our ranks, in order to better serve the Latino community. Ana Elisa Wilson, our Equity, Healthy Communities and Environment Specialist, has been working tirelessly for her community, adapting our programs to meet their needs.

We celebrate and acknowledge all people of color, especially the Hispanic community during this month that brings the change of seasons. We hope to continue to meet, talk and build community through our Spanish programming. Happy Hispanic Heritage Month everyone!
